UÉ researchers are guest editors of Special Issue

The Renewable Energies Chair of University of Évora (CER-UÉ) researcher, Maria Helena Novais, and Professor Manuela Morais, from the Department of Biology (UÉ) - Institute of Earth Sciences (ICT), are guest editors of a Special Issue of the Journal Water, dedicated to the "Inland Aquatic Ecosystems and Conservation".

This Special Issue is part of the “Aquatic Systems - Quality and Contamination” section and will address different actions for the conservation of inland aquatic ecosystems, which are exposed to numerous threats, such as inappropriate land use practices, pollution, invasive species or climate change, disrupting the natural functioning of ecological processes and the degrading biodiversity and water quality. According to the researchers, this issue is focused on receiving articles that focus on “the improvement of knowledge, the disclosure of effective practices to mitigate the anthropogenic threats, and the proposal of restoration solutions to enhance the resilience of aquatic ecosystems and contribute to aquatic biodiversity”.

The journal will accept the submission of manuscripts until February 1, 2021.

Maria Helena Novais is a researcher at CER-UÉ, where she develops work on EERES4WATER - Promoting the efficiency of Nexus Energy-Water with Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, which has INTERREG Atlantic funding (EAPA_1058 / 2018) and which intends to involve institutional, technical and social structures, in order to promote the direct use of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency in the water cycle, through an influence on policies and the introduction of new processes and technologies.
