Introduction

The main objective of the PhD program in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is to promote the conciliation between agricultural production and environmental quality, preserving functional processes and biodiversity. This 3rd Cycle is a scientific-pedagogical interface between agrarian sciences and environmental sciences, generating synergies that promote production processes more sustainable and territorially more balanced. The functional integration of both domains will be the main distinguishing feature of this PhD program, which is believed to be different in the national panorama of the 3rd Cycle offer. At the end of this course, students should be able to demonstrate: (1) the ability to systematically understand the two fundamental areas of the course - agricultural sciences and environmental sciences; (2) methodological knowledge associated with the two fundamental areas of the course and proficiency in the research methods necessary for the development of experimental work; 3) ability to autonomously conceive and carry out research according to high requirement parameters.

Professional Careers

Our PhD students are taught with the skills that will allow to develop a career in both national and international academic institutions (at any of the three higher education cycles), national and international research centres, agricultural and industrial companies, just as well as technical and scientific consultancy offices.
